When we know, who walks beside us, on this path we have chosen, our fears fall from us.

Shiny Spiritual Objects

Often when someone is struggling spiritually a “need to get back to basics” will be cited as the solution.  I have searched high and low, mostly low, and have been unable to find the source of the direction to get away from basics in the first place, because if I could find the author I would administer a thorough, metaphysical of course, pummeling. Here is a thought, if getting back to basics is such a good idea, then never getting away from them in the first place is even better! In truth, what happens to many students seeking raised consciousness is the perceived necessity of always seeking new information and paths of enlightenment, the search becoming the object, the destination of acquiring a consistent means of growth lost in the heat of the chase. Living on the Spiritual Basis, we have come to rely on a power greater than ourselves for guidance and inspiration, for intuitive thoughts, to wit:

*Intuitive: adj

1.  known directly and instinctively, without being discovered or consciously perceived
2.  knowing things instinctively

Intuitive thought is God or “Heart” thinking. We have two voices within us, one emanates from our mind or “head” if you like and it is loud and quite talkative. Is always on the lookout for the newest thing and it loves to keep us busy in ways that are counterproductive. This is the corrosive voice of self or Ego if you prefer, and it loves to keep us busy Spiritually without really accomplishing much of anything. The second voice, the Heart voice never shouts, speaks simply and directly. One voice a regular harbinger of doom and gloom and limitation thinking, motion for the sake of motion; the other of peace and freedom in Spirit, unlimited growth and potential, motion with purpose, and we choose every moment of every day which voice is dominant.

Spiritual growth does require effort on our part, a lot of “chopping wood and carrying water” as we trudge the road of happy destiny. Whether an ax or penknife, bucket or teacup is employed, consistent work is required if we are to know freedom. So, pick a path or teacher and stick with it, and if it is time to change you will know in your Heart, the thought coming intuitively, our job to stop looking for shortcuts and the newest shiny spiritual object the Ego so loves.
