Living on the Spiritual Basis the purpose of life has become clear: to
establish and maintain a conscious contact with the Miraculous. Moses,
according to the narrative, had a pretty stout conscious contact with God. The relationship
so deep and profound, God choose him to receive the Ten Commandments, humanities
new blueprint for living, kind of a big deal I think you would agree. Now Moses
was not chosen at random, God choose him because of the strength, unwavering
faith and belief he demonstrated in every area of life. His willingness to go
to any extreme for a spiritual experience; taking some pretty unpopular stands
against the recognized spiritual authority of the time along the way,
demonstrating his love of, and faith in, the Miraculous while living in the
wilderness for 40 years existing mostly on locust and honey. Then at 80 years
of age he was sent by God to free the Israelites from Pharaoh, some pretty
amazing miracles along the way to their eventual freedom. Makes for a pretty
stout spiritual resume. The Moses narrative happened around 3,500 years ago,
give or take, and amazingly he holds a revered position in Judaism,
Christianity and Islam; no small accomplishment, but what personal significance
does this narrative hold for us?
Well, God was so moved by his faith, He appeared to Moses in physical form, at
least twice! So, to be like Moses we must set aside prejudice and preconceived
notions and study with our Heart as well as our mind, ready to kick to the curb
everything that is blocking us off from the sunlight of the Spirit, the
greatest barrier to spiritual growth being a closed mind. With our feet firmly
planted on our chosen path we must keep an open mind and heart, listening and
learning daily, praying and meditating with joy, never out of a sense of duty
if we are to grow and prosper in the light. In so doing we become more like
Moses. Now it would probably scare the bejezus out of you to encounter a
speaking burning bush, but you must admit, it would be pretty cool, so to tweak
the old milk commercial tag line: Got Moses?
