Consider the apple pie. When we
remove a piece, the whole is diminished by the size of the slice we have
decided to enjoy, possibly alamode. The remaining pie and our slice are
composed of the same ingredients, in the same proportions, only the size
different, a slice merely a smaller representation of the whole. Soon other
truth seekers become aware of our pie experiment and the “whole” pie that began
our lesson is now only represented by a crumb filled pie tin; the original
portioned to the many, probably alamode.
When considering God many think of the Miraculous in this way since in a nonspiritual pie sense it makes sense; that God is so large He can break off pieces of Himself without concern of ever becoming an empty tin, unlike our pie. If this were true however regardless of how small the piece removed, the whole, like our apple pie, is still diminished. Fortunately for us God is never diminished, cannot by His nature be diminished. The Miraculous is as complete and whole today as a year, a million, a billion years ago. So, the truth is we are not merely connected to God, but we are of God, complete and whole in every way. Our Indwelling Presence is not a “portion” of God, but the Miraculous itself and proof of our true Divine self-hood.
In truth our relationship with and connection
to the Miraculous is much more akin to that of an electric circuit. The
electricity (our consciousness) is present throughout the circuit (our body)
though invisible. Our consciousness “turned on” in this flesh upon its creation
and one day will “turn off” when it reaches its expiration date. But since it is
energy in every sense, it was never created and can never be destroyed, it can only be
transformed from one form to another
as the Law of Conservation of Energy teaches.
Our physical life however is like
our apple pie, probably alamode; each day a little more gone until only the tin
remains to be recycled, no deposit required. But our true self, that which
exists beyond the physical, our soul energy, our consciousness, the I AM is
never diminished, cannot be diminished, never proportioned always whole and
eternal. For: We are not human beings in search of the miraculous, a
spiritual awakening, we are spiritual beings experiencing the human condition,
one day at a time. And like the invisible electric current that powers the
machines in our lives, Divine knowledge flows through us, always there, just waiting
for us to flip the switch and embrace enlightenment. I bet you will never look
at a piece of pie the same way ever again.
