We all are afflicted with the “false witness” voice in our consciousness. When it chimes in it never brings good or positive news, it strives to fill us with fear and doubt. You know the voice; it’s the one that points to the negative, the down side. All the reasons why something won’t work so why try, that we never have any luck and since success is all about luck, what’s the point in trying. Somebody probably already thought of it anyway, so why bother, I’m too old, I’m too young, it’s too hard, there’s no time, I’m not good enough, I don’t deserve it, ad infinitum ad nauseum. In short, to sabotage us, to turn us from the light to darkness, the darkness of the bondage of self.
Emmet Fox writes, “Verily, doubt and fear are the cruelest things that can come into the life of man.” The shadows are always there, beckoning us with their cruel lies. Living on the Spiritual Basis, we step from the shadows of fear and doubt, embracing God’s salvation.
The false witness is persistent. So when we start to feel the cold shadow of fear and doubt settling down, we gently turn in prayer affirming God’s salvation, placing ourselves in the sunlight of the Spirit, our demonstration in faith praise of the one true Source, banishing the shadows, one day at a time.
