When we know, who walks beside us, on this path we have chosen, our fears fall from us.

Endings

I have been a college football fan (of USC and whoever is playing Notre Dame) pretty much all my life. Some years ago while watching the end of the year bowl games, I was struck with a thought; for over 98% of the seniors playing, who had been playing and practicing regularly for most of their lives, this was their final game. Though good enough to play at the college level, they would never turn pro. At the end of this game, win or lose, when they removed their uniforms and turned in their equipment, it would be for the last time.

Endings. Life is made up of them. Leaving military service, retirement, changing careers, moving to someplace new, and many others. But every ending is also a beginning. Leaving the single life and getting married, personal freedom (and some sleep) when becoming a parent, self employment, and many more. As has been said, when one door closes, another opens. So embrace change for the wonderful new vistas and experiences it brings, though often trembling, we stride forth confident in the knowledge something new and exciting waits around the corner, our job to trust and step out in faith and if we find ourselves heading in the wrong direction, we can always start anew.
