Spiritual half measures avail us nothing. Not a little, not
some, zero. Having entered into a secular endeavor half halfheartedly,
what was the outcome? Any unfinished “projects” lying around the house, buried in the back of a closet? Exercise
equipment serving as a clothes rack or taking up space in the garage,
perhaps a shelf full of dusty self help/diet books? On the secular plane
we can go to work half halfheartedly and still draw a paycheck, at
least for a time. A poorly built house is still built, a badly painted
room still painted. Our spiritual life however requires total
commitment, half measures resulting not only in our failure to
demonstrate but instilling the false belief that we tried and God didn’t
deliver, probably because we feel unworthy or God is too busy with important things. Nonsense.
NONSENSE.
God is source, “Our Father" in every sense. We are His children and all the gifts and
blessings that relationship represents are ours for the asking but we
must ask without reservation, standing firm in faith, consistent in our prayers, meditations and
actions.
