When we know, who walks beside us, on this path we have chosen, our fears fall from us.

BROAD SHOULDERS

Having made the decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God; to embrace living on the Spiritual Basis, we now trust A Power Greater than Ourselves for direction and guidance in every area of life. Does this mean when afraid or in doubt we should sit quietly waiting to be moved by the Spirit? Possibly. I would be the last person to counsel against meditation or quiet prayer, however we must balance patience and action for “Faith without works is dead.” Part of the 11th Step in the 12 Step process for living directs: “As we go through the day we pause, when agitated or doubtful, and ask for the right thought or action. We constantly remind ourselves we are no longer running the show, humbly saying to ourselves many times each day ‘Thy will be done.’ We are then in much less danger of excitement, fear, anger, worry, self-pity, or foolish decisions. We become much more efficient. We do not tire so easily, for we are not burning up energy foolishly as we did when we were trying to arrange life to suit ourselves.” So go about your business as usual but with the knowledge that you have tapped an inner resource that will unerringly guide you. Additionally if you cannot remember the last time you said “Thy will be done” you have probably taken the running of your life back into your hands, placing the full weight of living on your shoulders. As wide and strong as our shoulders may be, God’s are infinitely wider and stronger and He wants to carry our burdens. Let Him. “Thy will be done.”
