When we know, who walks beside us, on this path we have chosen, our fears fall from us.

Endings and Beginnings

I have been a college football fan pretty much all my life. Some years ago, while watching the end of the year bowl games, I was struck with a thought; for over 98% of the seniors playing, young men who had been playing and practicing regularly for most of their lives, this was their final game. Though talented enough to play at the college level, they would never play pro ball. At the end of this game, win or lose, for most of them when they removed their uniforms and turned in their equipment, it would be for the last time. For many a sobering, possibly bewildering moment when the truth of it finally sank in later.

Endings. Life is made up of them. Leaving military service, High School, college, our children leaving the nest, changing careers, relocating, and many more. But every ending is also a beginning. Leaving the single life for marriage, personal freedom (and some sleep) when becoming a parent, leaving a career to become self-employed, etc. As has been said, when one door closes, another opens. So, welcome change, for it is as natural as winter giving way to spring, and just as inevitable
. Embrace the wonderful new vistas and experiences it brings, and though often trembling, stride forth confident in the knowledge something new and exciting waits around the corner, our job to trust and step out in faith and if we find ourselves by chance heading in the wrong direction, we can always start anew.
