When we know, who walks beside us, on this path we have chosen, our fears fall from us.

Tour De France

Most people believe in all sorts of things without truly taking the time to consider them. Whether we realize it or not, everyone lives by a set of values, or code if you prefer, things we will or will not do.  Living on the Spiritual Basis we chose to examine our beliefs, seeking clarity on our values and the code we live by. In so doing we build the structure of our mentality, our consciousness a metaphysical stone at a time. Our decision to live the examined life builds the fortress of our faith, provides sure footing in times of trouble, protection from the vagaries of random wild negative thoughts with raised ramparts of clarity to better view the landscape of our lives. Remember, all structures require maintenance, lest they fall to ruin.

Some years back I began watching the Tour De France bicycle race not so much for the race as for the stunning beauty of France since much of the race is followed by helicopters showing panoramic views of famous structures in proximity to the race route. France is dotted with castles/fortresses, typically situated on prominent high points overlooking villages or critical choke points along invasion routes. A few are still occupied, but most have been allowed to deteriorate, their walls crumbling, moats overgrown, testaments to a once vital defense, now merely reminders of what once was. Just as physical walls fail without care and maintenance, the fortress of our faith will suffer this same fate without spiritual maintenance performed by consistent prayer, meditation and service. If we fail to do this and rest on our laurels the seeds of fear will find their way into the stones, take root and eventually breach the walls. Having done the work in faith to build our fortress, we must remain ever vigilant watching for the beginning tendrils of fear, negativity and depression and when they appear, for they will, address them immediately by reaffirming our faith and trust in God.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is an interesting Holiday, it's history associated with all manner of things from principally Pilgrims giving thanks to God, to Indian massacres, to the Union victory at Gettysburg in the Civil War. Today the thanks given for most seemingly is for days off work for some, time and a half for others, football, ditching the diet and workout routine for consuming far too much food, family hopefully, friends, and early bird Black Friday sales, that nap after dinner finished off of course with pumpkin or pecan pie.

But find today as well a few minutes for quiet contemplation, giving thanks for the spiritual lessons learned, and the people who have touched you this past year, for the Love freely given and received. Give thanks for the new person you are becoming, your unfoldment in Spirit an ongoing process, testifying to your daily growth as a child of the light, free of the adversary fear. And have seconds of that pie, I mean, it is Thanksgiving, Right?
